​House on Mango street (clowns) the glimmerglass festival 

For The Glimmerglass Festivals World Premiere of The House on Mango Street. John Conklin’s original Scenic Design included these two faced clowns, one side happy that draws you in, and one side menacing. As the story unfolds the clowns switch to their scary side to further emphasize the narrators story telling of a tainted memory. As John’s apprentice I was tasked with furthering the research and development of his original design shown below. My research was informed by the story, inspired by Folk Art and Hispanic Parade Masks, these are what Associate Desiginer James Rotondo came up with to bring John’s vision to life.
