House on Mango street (Junkyard flowers) the glimmerglass festival
For The Glimmerglass Festivals World Premiere of The House on Mango Street. John Conklin’s original Scenic Design included a wall of flowers made out of materials one may find in a junkyard. This was meant to represent the beauty and wonder the mind of an adolescent is able to find even in places full of junk and possibly danger. I worked to develop mockups of flowers inspired by Henri Rousseau’s Jungle paintings for John to React to. Collaborating twitch Associate Designer James Rotondo, we were able to bring John’s Final Vision to LIfe.
